Google’s retreat on Pointer Events makes life more difficult for Web developers

For the next ten years, touch is all that matters, says Google. It’s reversing its decision to add the Pointer Occasions standard to Chrome, meaning Web developers lose what could be their best chance to get a single API designed for handling touch, mouse, and pen input.
