Ms slashes IE support, sets ‘huge’ edict designed for Jan. 2016

Hard around the heels of a decision to step up the regularity of Windows updates, Microsoft on Thursday announced it would give customers 17 months to stop making use of older versions of Internet Explorer (IE), including the most popular of them all, IE8.

The decision will further complicate enterprises’ use of Microsoft’s software, analysts said.
